Weight Management Programme The Four Golden Rules to a Slimmer, Healthier and Happier You!
Rule No 1 - Only eat when you are hungry.
Rule No 2 - Eat what you want, not what you think you ought to eat.
Rule No 3 - Eat consciously. If you just followed this rule you would easily be able to manage your weight.
Rule No 4 - When you feel full stop eating.
The Four Golden Rules sound so simple, yet they are not so easy to put into practice. If they were then more people would follow them and they would weigh less, be slimmer, feeling healthier and probably a lot happier. They would also save themselves a lot of time and money, as they would not be seeking out the latest diet craze or running from slimming club to slimming club - not to mention what they would save on buying clothes of various sizes! I will break this to you gently..........................
Diets Don't Work.
i would like to tell you the story behind why I chose to work with this effective Weight Management Programme when I became a Hypnotherapist.
Someone once said to me “you can't possibly understand what it is like to be overweight because you don't have an issue with over eating”. No, I don't!
However, my dear mother, Angela, struggled with her weight and was a lifelong member of a well known slimming club (no names mentioned, of course). And that is exactly what she did, she watched her weight go up and down and then usually up again to an all time high. She would then fall off the wagon for a few months, eat her way through the mountain of cakes and biscuits cupboard which magically kept refilling itself although each week she vowed not to buy them – they were for dad because he likes a biscuit with his tea she would convince herself.
Then there was the the overflowing wardrobes filled with garments in four different dress sizes. The weighing scales ritual. The success of losing a pound or the disappointment of gaining a half at the weekly slimming meetings. There was also the complete avoidance of going to get weighed because she didn't want to deal with the reality of how much a 'bad' week can tip the scales in the wrong direction. Most of the time she never ate much dinner because she had been secretly bingeing on packets of biscuits.
There was a daily running dialogue around the subject of weight and food which I was heavily involved in – and it was playing on repeat. One day my mum said to me “if you see me with a biscuit in my hand then take it off me”. So when I came home from school and saw her about to eat a fig roll, I quickly reacted and attempted to grab the biscuit out of her hand. This resulted in her forcefully holding on to it and there was a scuffle between me and my mum over the fig roll which ended up half in crumbs and the other half in her mouth. We laughed about this for years afterwards but in all honestly her eating addiction wasn't a laughing matter.
All the time she really wanted to be comfortable with her weight and ultimately be happy but she was stuck in a pattern of life. Then she experienced a life changing event....and that brought about significant change... Sadly my dad died. They had been married for 46 years. After 18 months of grieving she got up one day and changed her life. At 73 years of age she listened to an hypnotherpy CD about how to be thin and lost 3 stone – easily. Hypnotherapy taught her the Four Golden Rules:
Eat What You Want – not what you think you should eat. Eat When You are Hungry Stop Eating When You are Full Eat Consciously and Enjoy Every Mouthful
Angela passed away in 2016, and I miss her terribly. I know she won't mind me telling her story because she would want you to be comfortable in your own skin, accepting of your weight, eating what you want when you were hungry and enjoying life. She would love for you to be happy, exactly like she was after she took control of her eating and managed her weight.
After my Mum took control of her eating habits she was happier, her dress sense became much more modern and stylist, she had more energy and attended regular exercise classes. She also found love in later life, reconnecting with one of her old flames who she dated before she married my dad - I am convinced that she probably would never have agreed to meet up with Frank if she had not become comfortable with her weight and appearance.
